Rowland (Latest magazine, April) Wow, this is unusual: a synth orientated female-fronted band with a good bit of guitar and random dog barking samples thrown in for good measure. Yes, Francis (guitar), Ela (vocals/synths), Simon (drums/synths) and Bob (production) are Speedway5, a local group spreading sparse yet supremely funky basslines (those squelchy sounds get our vote every time!) and thoughtful compositions, along with diverse drumbeats and intelligent lyrics. Most impressive! |
